Resources to End Domestic Violence in Los Angeles

In California, there is an organization known as The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (The Partnership). It is a coalition made up of community activists, organizations and other allied and affiliated groups throughout the state trying to prevent domestic violence. Some of its members help legislators in affecting public policy. Others help individuals in their battles against domestic violence. Still others work with local law enforcement and courts to combat it.

For over 40 years, this coalition has helped enact over 200 acts of legislation that have been passed in furtherance of their cause. They have increased public awareness of the ravages of domestic violence and helped to change public policy and the perception of domestic violence from a mere “domestic incident” to a very real social problem. Their goal is to completely put an end to domestic violence.

In the Los Angeles area (including the Antelope Valley), there are 27 locations victims of domestic abuse can go to get help. They are listed below alphabetically. Information regarding the Partnership can be found at their website: www.CPEDV.org. Victims can also contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or 1-800-787-3224 (TTY) or visit their website at www.ndvh.org
