A Slash by Any Other Name

Saul Hudson is a rock and roll musician. He plays lead guitar for the group Guns N’ Roses. He is better known by his stage name Slash. Slash and Guns N’ Roses are very famous in the rock and roll genre. The band has been together for more than 30 years, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. The members are also very rich. In their This Lifetime Tour of 2016 alone, the band grossed over $480 million dollars!

In October of 2001, Slash married fashion model Perla Ferrar. Their first son was born in 2002, and their second son was born in 2004. They separated permanently in 2014, Slash filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce process has been contentious since the very beginning. Continuous arguments over temporary spousal support, temporary child support, and currently permanent distribution of assets, debts and support. As of August 31, 2018, the divorce process was still not settled.

According to TMZ, Slash accuses Ferrar of delaying the process for trivial reasons, including that he is hiding assets from her and that his current girlfriend is harassing Farrar on social media outlets. He claims he is not hiding assets from Ferrar, but that a lot of his income comes from business sources he created before they were married. If so, he contends, those sources would be his separate property and not subject to the divorce.

Slash also claims that Ferrar wants him to purchase a third set of drums for their son, and then she bought a fourth set of drums for the teen. Then she asked Slash to reimburse her for the fourth set! He includes this example as one of the “trivial reasons” Ferrar is holding up the divorce.

Again, according to TMZ, “…Slash says Perla is griping about ways they stay in contact -- insisting she be allowed to call him directly for custody scheduling or emergencies. He says they'd already agreed to use a program that eliminates the need to talk directly ... but she's insisting she be able to get on the horn with her ex whenever she thinks the need arises.”

After the post regarding Slash appeared on the TMZ website, TMZ contacted Ferrar’s attorney, Marty Singer, to respond.

According to Singer, "Slash is well aware of the significant claims that have been made by Perla as to why the divorce documents cannot be finalized at this time…These include claims reflected in [Ferrar]’s court filings that there was a multi-million dollar audit settlement that was concealed from [Ferrar], not paying in excess of $1,500,000 in child and spousal support payments, and significant advances received by Slash that will affect his future spousal and child support payments."

Further according to Singer, "Even though Slash reported over $45,000,000 of income last year, my client’s court papers allege that he refused to pay for a $1500 drum set that was requested by his son, a musician in a band, so that he could have a drum set at his mother’s home where he spends approximately 90% of his time. The other drum sets are at Slash’s home and studio where Slash does not allow his teenage son to remove them.”

The rich have bigger and richer problems.
