The State of California provides regular copies and certified copies of divorce documents from its counties’ court records.
Through its Court Document Order System web site, you can get copies of family law court documentation on line instead of requesting the information in person at the court’s records section, or the Archives and Records Center (ARC).
To use the online system for your California family law case, you must have:
- Access to the internet and access to a printer.
- The case itself must have originated and been filed in California.
- The case number for the documents from cases no earlier than 2004. (Cases earlier than the year 2004, have not been imaged online, so copies must be requested in person at the Archives and Records Center.)
- A valid credit card issued to a valid United States mailing address (MasterCard, Discover, or VISA credit cards only) to pay for the documentation you request.
The current fee for this service is $0.50 per each page of the document requested. There is no reduced fee for additional copies of a document. The cost for each page remains 50 cents. You will also be charged a fee for the cost of postage and handling fees.
You can also get a certified copy of your document on line, known as an exemplified copy of a document. The current cost for this service is $15.00.
